PM Modi thanks voters for choosing ‘politics of development’

The Bharatiya Janata Party is on track to sweep Madhya Pradesh while the Congress sits pretty in Telangana. Trends for Rajasthan show BJP also winning in Rajasthan with the Election Commission of India figures showing a definite lead for the party. The BJP also eyes victory in Chhattisgarh where it is currently ahead in 58 of the 90 seats with the Congress trailing behind with leads in 30 seats, as per EC data. The results come as a big shot in the arm for the BJP as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2024. For the Congress, the solitary win in Telangana will also come with the baggage of an outright rejection in the Hindi heartland ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

The Congress has conceded defeat in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh and said that it will overcome the “temporary setback”.

COP28

Ceremonial opening of COP 28

Ceremonial opening of COP 28, followed by opening of COP, followed by opening of CMP, followed by opening of CMA.

COP28 stands for the 28th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

COPs take place every year, and are the world’s only multilateral decision-making forum on climate change with almost complete membership of every country in the world.

To put it simply, the COP is where the world comes together to agree on ways to address the climate crisis, such as limiting global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius, helping vulnerable communities adapt to the effects of climate change, and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

Modi is leaving for Dubai this evening to attend the World Climate Action Summit and, participate in three other high-level side events.
